The Four Parts of Your Test
- Tone test: you press a button or raise a hand each time you hear a beep, from low pitches to high.
- Word test: you repeat words at a comfortable volume to show how clearly you understand speech.
- Speech in noise (QuickSIN): sentences with background chatter, like a busy restaurant.
- Bone conduction: a small band behind the ear helps show where in the ear a hearing loss starts.

How Long It Takes
Plan for 45 minutes to 1½ hours, depending on the appointment type. Nothing about the test hurts. You simply listen and respond.
Before you leave, Robert walks you through your results on a chart called an audiogram and explains what they mean for your daily life. Curious about the speech part? See speech testing.
What Comes Next
If your hearing is normal, you leave with a baseline to compare against in future years. If there is a hearing loss, you get honest options, with no pressure to decide that day.
